Some background on your waitress; I have been in information technology professionally since 2007 (with personal experience going back to 1996). I’ve transitioned from my family’s computers to a computer repair shop to a large enterprise environment.
As a result, I have hands-on experience with most of the technical methods that companies use for their IT solutions. The biggest chunk of my career has been at the top of the ‘escalation’ for IT helpdesk and enterprise support.
Consequently, I also have lots of experience with dealing with anxiety and coping mechanisms for burnout on a personal level. Over the last decade in IT, having learned a great deal about each while working in a very fast-paced, high-pressure environment. As an introvert, entering this environment was like jumping into a rocket ship!
Whether it’s just a personal skill or learned behavior, I am told I have the patience of a saint. I could not tell you if that’s true, but I will say I am a very non-judgmental person & I just really like helping people make their day better.

Getting down to business; I understand the helpdesk environment very well as I deal with helpdesk first-hand (if not in the helpdesk, personally). Part of my skill set is getting around the BS that you’ll often run into with help desks. Let me be the first to tell you that a lot of your assumptions are true. Let me also say, they’re not the fault of the poor sap on the other end of the frustrating helpdesk phone call.
I can help you find the most efficient ways to cut through some of the tasks you’re doing. I specialize in learning new software on the fly and can help you learn your way through the confounded new software your company just insisted would be a sparkling savior. Those “silver bullet” software suites are never the hero they’re made out to be and sometimes make things worse. I can help you set up your office in a way that suits your aesthetic and the amount of space you have. We can also create the environment you need to feel cool, calm, and confident.
So, I know why you’re here (and I can’t wait to hear what you need!); but why am I here? Various reasons: like you, life has changed from the ‘before times’ & pandemic work environments are .. different.
Whether you’re working in the office or you’re working from home, technology has leaped and changed gears simultaneously. I find my work overwhelming, being that my workload has more than doubled, and my position/job has changed. Now, it’s time for me to shift gears too.
I need to adapt and right now that means helping people in a way I’m not able to at work. I’m working a full-time job, but my goal is to make this my full-time job. I think I’d rather not break the rules at work to help people the way they need to be helped. Making it my life’s work is the kind of purpose I need and the kind of solution people need. I hope you’ll join me on your quest to reduce your stress via workspace design and technical solutions.
Maybe you just want to learn a version of Windows better than you already know it. Perhaps you’d like to be able to handle your own computer upgrades. Do you hate a specific software and if you just had some help with it, life would be easier?
